About Me

Zachary Crain is a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill studying journalism with a minor in history. Through his four years at UNC, he has served as the sports editor at The Daily Tar Heel, where he covered the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and Hall of Fame basketball coach Roy Williams’ retirement.

This summer, he worked as a sports intern for Gannett news outlets in North Carolina from the Asheville Citizen-Times to the Wilmington Star-News.

Born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina, he has always had an affinity for the mountains, but has fallen in love with corners of the country from coast to coast.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his five-month-old cat, Churro, laughing on the phone with his family and trying cheese curds from various restaurants. He hopes to take his passion for storytelling with him into his career, whatever field that may be in.
